A product design project exploring how form, colour, material, and texture can communicate personality and intent. I designed a personalised marking tool and accompanying display case, considering both the physical experience of the product and the qualities of the manufacturing processes used to produce it.
The project combined CAD development, prototyping, and additive manufacturing, using PolyJet printing for the marking tool and FDM printing for the case. The final outcome explored how digital fabrication can be used to create functional products with a distinct visual and tactile identity.
For this project, I wanted to achieve three distinct criteria. Firstly, the aim was to design a pen that utilised a clicking mechanism unique to the design. Secondly, the pen had to exhibit a sleek and simple appearance while maintaining its fundamental shape. Lastly, an essential consideration was to future-proof the pen, ensuring ease of maintenance and preserving the functional know-how required to repair it.
It is also worth noting that this was my first project in which I utilised AI image generation, using Midjourney.
