This project explored the relationship between digital design and manufacturing through the creation of an experimental piece of furniture. Across three stages, the project moved from initial research and concept development, through full-scale prototyping and testing, to the production of a final design. A key focus was exploring how digitally fabricated joints could connect materials while becoming a visible part of the design.
MY KEY INFLUENCES
PHYSICAL PROTOTYPING
DESIGN RESOLUTION
During this project, I began experimenting with proximity-based geometry in Blender, where the position of one object could influence the form of another. By moving objects around, I could directly affect the modifiers and explore how these relationships created different forms.
