This project explored procedural design as a way of generating, making, and communicating product ideas. Across three projects, I experimented with computational iteration in Blender, SLS 3D printing, material interfaces, and physically based rendering. The project progressed from generating large numbers of possible forms, to translating a selected design into a physical prototype, and finally to exploring how materiality and context could be communicated through digital visualisation.

The following renders showcase the process of creating my environment from start to finish. While the brief recommended using downloadable assets to construct the scene, I chose to build more of the environment myself, prioritising an aesthetic I found engaging while using the opportunity to expand my technical knowledge of Blender. Through this process, I explored Blender’s particle systems for grass, fine-tuned lighting and camera settings, and optimised a tree asset with its own complex settings. Although this approach moved slightly beyond the intended direction of the brief, it allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of how environments can be constructed and controlled within Blender.
